Nayanthara is an Indian actress best known for her roles in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films. She has also starred in films in Hindi and Kannada. She is one of the highest-paid South Indian actresses and has established herself as one of the leading South Indian actresses.
Nayanthara was born Diana Mariam Kurian in Bengaluru, Karnataka on November 18, 1984. Her ancestors are Malayali Nasrani (Syrian Christians). She attended Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School before enrolling in Stella Maris College in Chennai to study business. Nayanthara began her modeling career after finishing her education. She appears in a number of commercials and print advertisements. She made her acting debut in the Malayalam film Manassinakkare in 2003. She made her Tamil film debut with Ayya (2005) and her Telugu film debut with Lakshmi (2006).
Nayanthara rose to prominence with films on women such as Anaamika (2014), Maya (2015), Kolamavu Kokila (2018), Airaa (2019), and Netrikann (2022). She has also received four Filmfare Awards South, six South Indian International Movie Awards, and three CineMAA Awards for her work.
Nayanthara is well-known for her strong and commanding performances. With her strong roles in women-centric films such as Aramm, Maya, Anaamika, Kolamavu Kokila, and Netrikann, she is recognized with bringing about a transformation in the South industry. Nayanthara married director Vignesh Shivan in 2022. The wedding was lavish in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu.
